Where do you put these corona-puzzle pieces?
23 April 2020Since beginning of April, increasingly alarming information comes up regarding the Corona Virus’ origins; who really is to blame for the outbreak, and how does it truly compare to those other viruses, we are exposed to and dealing with since our first day on the planet. The issue still is by far topping any thoughts about real estate, which is why you even find some thoughts about it in our monthly report.
If you already earlier read this monthly contribution to our website, you are likely to be at least 20 years past your teen-ages, as most of our clients are. It follows that you therefore heard plenty about the basics of good health from many different sources.
Now, isn’t it, that we all have learned that our immune system needs some practice to be strong? What if we, based on today’s excess paranoia, try to eliminate all germs around us by spraying and wiping, washing and what not - and then the nasty one comes back one day and bites our unprotected backside? Hear in a minute what an expert says.
Yes, I know that you rightly so may expect to read here about issues relating to settling, investing and/or living in Bali. However, today you are served only a meagre entre’ instead of a main meal of useful Ubud- information.
This entre’ is made up of the strange observation ‘what the heck does Corona do (or indeed not do) to Bali’.
However, firstly I feel the urge to share an interview, which I just listened to. If your English is fluent enough to understand the rapid speech of a bright minded independent and accomplished American Physician, you owe it to yourself and everyone you care about, to try to understand this and think the information through.
I guess you may be as confused then as myself, or maybe even upset, about the revelations. I can handle the odd horror movie or action thriller without noticeably raising my heartbeat frequency. This interview however, managed to keep me on edge. Here is the link:

Dr. Rashid Buttar is bright, as you may agree to. Smarter than the average Medical Practitioner for sure, also certainly way better informed than many of the opinion makers in the news. And he is clearly professionally motivated. His aim is to expose the misinformation about the pandemic and the frightening plan to use this as a tool which will make George Orwell’s book ‘1984’ look in comparison like a fairy tale for kids.
Just imagine for a moment: An ant has 1 mg of brain mass, which is 1 thousands of one gram. With this they find family members, communicate and plan for the seasons. Humans are equipped with 1300 to 1400 gsm, which is over 1.3 kg – and about 1. 3 million times that large. Wow! If it is true, that we use only up to 5% of our brains capacity, there sure is still some room available to consider ‘other’ opinions, such as the info in this video. Don’t miss out.
Sorry to have kept you – now let’s move on to Bali.
Naturally, from the Real Estate guys on our island you may want to hear, how the market is doing and if there is anything we ought to know to save or improve on our property’s value.
Buying these days is probably out of the question, because we need to see and feel what a place is like, before signing anything. Well, the Covid critters have managed that borders were closed, making sure we can only dream about buying a nice property in Bali.
That is, unless you are an Indonesian buyer. We note there is an increasing number of affluent local investors thinking about changing their liquid assets towards property. The reason: there likely will be inflation as follow-on to this economic and socio-politic crisis.
Those people look for a solid shelter to move their liquid assets to.
At present land and house prices are stagnant. In a few cases though, relating to the reduced income for many, vendors are becoming flexible, although we see that asking prices still remain largely unchanged. Let’s wait and see…
If there is any particular property which you would want to find out more about, just instruct us to talk to the vendor. Who knows what falls down when we jointly rattle the bush.
Having said that, please understand that we need to assure the owner that there is a real potential buyer behind our request. This is only fair, right? The proper procedure is, that we get to know some basics about you, the prospective buyer. Just Email or WA our sales team and we are very happy to act for you. After all, this is part of our job.
Today it is still impossible to guess when things will get back to normal. Only that they will, is certain. Everyone wants to keep going and after the shards have been picked up and the road is clean again, the race towards normality is starting. Try to secure your pole position early.
An effective way to do so is keep contact with our sales team to have your finger on the pulse of events. No expenses involved, only rewards to be had. Why not?
Should we be worried, you may ask, if the virus tragedy is coming to Bali and then the idea to live here, to make a solid investment and enjoy Ubud was just just fiction?
I love the following thoughts by one of our western residents. Bali, he assures us, is so far a safe haven from the disease. Accordingly, it seems justified to relax and appreciate that we did chose Bali for the good life.

Why indeed is Bali not in the negative headlines regarding the number of corona infections. Even the two reported deaths until this day of writing, not necessarily had the virus as main causing factor. Again, interesting to think about.
Please do remember about how to stay safe and healthy, and until next time in mid-May, this is
